We have recovered over £150,000 in symbolic remedies for families who were failed by their local councils. While these payments acknowledge wrongdoing, they fall far short of the real emotional, educational and financial damage caused when statutory duties are breached and children go without the support they are legally entitled to.

Current remedies do not act as an effective deterrent. Councils can repeatedly fail children with minimal consequence, leaving families to absorb the long‑term harm.

We are calling for a stronger national compensation framework, meaningful financial accountability, and enforceable consequences when councils break the law. Children’s rights must be protected by a system where failure has real, tangible repercussions.
